Angela Jones was interviewed by Chanel 5 News and Sky news about the River Wye ,Usk and Lugg Leigh Day case.

With the announcement of the Leigh Day legal case, there have been a number of questions, and I want to set out my personal position clearly.

I have taken time to understand the proposed legal action brought by Leigh Day against various organisations, including Avara & Welsh Water, in relation to the Rivers Wye, Lugg and Usk.

I want to be very clear that I do not support the Leigh Day legal case.

This is not because I do not care deeply about the condition of our rivers ,quite the opposite. My concern is that this approach risks shifting focus away from the urgent and practical action needed on the ground: stronger regulation, better enforcement, and immediate measures to reduce pollution at source.

My motivation has always been, and remains, the health and future of our rivers. I am driven by what I see in front of me every day ,the impact on wildlife, water quality, and the wider environment not by legal or financial outcomes.

I also have concerns that becoming involved in a compensation-based legal process can unintentionally change the tone of independent environmental work and may distract from the urgent need for coordinated, science-led action and regulatory reform.

I fully respect that others may see this differently, and individuals are entitled to make their own choices regarding the case. My position is simply my own personal view.

What remains unchanged is my commitment to transparency, evidence, and practical action.
