The Times: Chicken waste polluting river

Updated: Dec 18, 2021

Chicken waste polluting river, COMPANY ADMITS - 12th October, 2021

Tesco and other retailers ADMITTED that excrement from its farms is polluting River Wye!! Avara foods and egg producer Noble food pledged to STOP the pollution.

There up to 20 million birds in intensive poultry production on the Wye Catchment. With over 150,00 tonnes of manure spread annually onto land draining into river!!

Why is it so important that this river pollution is recognised?

Chicken manure is high in phosphates, when it rains it gets washed off the fields and goes into the river. These phosphates cause algal bloom in the river, suffocating the river and turning the water green and killing beds of natural river weed, which serve as nurseries for fish

Any company however big or small should be held to account and fined heavily .

We won’t STOP Till Change comes !!

Dwyr Cymru Welsh water next !

A huge thank you to all who support this campaign 💚
